Join us in the Lost Bridge Beverage Tap Room for a fun course in making Swedish stars out of basket willow. These stars are one of the first things 65willows learned how to make and we have used them for 5 years running as part of the decorations we hang on the barn doors of our sister business--Willow Run Stables. They're both rustic and elegant and look lovely hung over or resting on a mantelpiece or in place of a wreath on your front door.
These stars are big. As large as two feet across, and you will have the opportunity to make a few--in varying sizes, if you like. But these are definitely wall-hanging decorations, not for putting on a tree unless you're decorating the tree at 30 Rockefeller Plaza.
Know, too, that the picture above is of a 2 year old star hanging on one of our horse barns. Yours will be pretty and new from this year's willow harvest. But that is how it will age if left outdoors all year round without being oiled.
As always, working with basket willow takes a decent amount of hand, wrist, arm, shoulder strength. Know that you can skip arm day at the gym when you come to one of our weaving classes.
The taproom will also be open for business with food and beverage available to snack on while you craft.
